African development: an opportunity for Italy and Europe
Africa represents a tremendous opportunity just around the corner from Europe.
Despite a political-institutional context that is not always easy to interpret and continues to hold many unknowns and uncertainties, African countries are undergoing a process of continuous evolution and today many of them are facing a phase of significant economic and social-political development.
If Africa were able to embark upon a positive course of growth, the opportunities would be extraordinary for Italian and European companies: availability of manpower, tremendous reserves of natural resources, areas for tourist development and new markets, to name just a few.
Within this context, the role of Europe (and Italy) is even more strategic in light of the activity being carried out contemporaneously in other non-European countries (such as China, India, the United States and Japan) which in recent years have shown quite a different level of interest in this part of the world.
For several years, The European House-Ambrosetti has been involved in the project "Developing Africa: an Opportunity for Europe, Italy and Sicily", the results of which are presented each year at an exclusive Forum that brings together Italian, European and African political and business leadership in high-level discussions concerning strategic relations between the two continents and to launch concrete, business-oriented initiatives in key development areas, such as health, agriculture, tourism and education.
