This document has been expressly prepared for The European House – Ambrosetti Forum “Intelligence on the World, Europe, and Italy”, Villa d’Este – Cernobbio – September 6, 7 and 8, 2019.
The study, by Ambrosetti Club, looks at the issue of bureaucracy in Italy, starting with an examination of the current main problems and long term issues afflicting the public administration in Italy, public services and the relationship between the machinery of State and companies and citizens, with the aim of identifying concrete and feasible proposals that, if produced in their entirety, can relaunch the public administration in Italy and debeaurocratize the country, contributing to a long-awaited economic relaunch.
Among the main pieces of evidence that emerged, the costs that companies have to contend every year to manage their relations with the public administrations have been estimated to be 57.2 billion euros (3.3% of GDP).
