This year, the China Entrepreneur Club has chosen Germany and Italy as destinations for its annual foreign trip

The 47 members of the China Entrepreneur Club, which was started in 2006, are founders and owners of private Chinese companies that have a total turnover of two trillion yuan per year (300 billion euros) and make up 4.5% of the GDP of the People’s Republic of China.

The group visiting Italy from 16 to 22 October included: Jack Ma, founder of Alibaba; Guo Guangchang, Chairman of Fosun; Charles Chao, CEO of Sina International, which controls Weibo, the Chinese Twitter; Xia Hua, Chairwoman of the Eve Fashion Group; Niu Gensheng, founder of Mengniu; Zhu Xinli, owner of Huiyuan, the king of fruit juices and a sponsor of Expo Milano 2015.

This visit was an opportunity for Italian businesses and private Chinese companies to get to know each other better. The latter are looking to Italy with growing interest in investment and partnership opportunities.

The European House – Ambrosetti—which has been working in China for years and boasts a long-standing relationship of mutual esteem and collaboration with the China Entrepreneur Club —thanks to the great friendship between the two organizations, has offered to put the China Entrepreneur Club in contact with its top-level network to set up the meeting agenda in Italy.

In Rome, the Chinese delegation was received by the mayor on Capitol Hill for a meeting with Esko Aho, former Prime Minister of Finland, and Enrico Letta, former Prime Minister of Italy.

In Florence, there was a day to study and discuss the issues related to governance, succession and innovation in Italian family-run businesses. The group was guests of Marquis Antinori, at the Antinori Palace, where they also met Albiera Antinori, Paolo Barilla, Andrea Illy, Milena Perini, Marco Tronchetti Provera and Niccolò Ricci.

Finally, The European House – Ambrosetti’s Italian hospitality concluded with a dinner in Milan, where representatives from the China Entrepreneur Club and the Ambrosetti Club met and laid the foundation for a future, fruitful collaboration.
