“Creative ideas for entrepreneurial innovation”: a pilot project for 10 secondary schools in Lombardy and Apulia, that had the opportunity to present entrepreneurial projects and ideas as innovative and creative solutions to relaunch social and cultural development in their local areas.

The objective of the initiative the DOT – Do One Thing association of The European House – Ambrosetti launched in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research, as part of the 41st “Intelligence on the World, on Europe, on Italy” Forum was to stimulate and promote entrepreneurial projects and ideas developed by the younger generation.

The goal of the competition was to boost a cross-section of competencies, stimulate the creativity and versatility of young students, and stimulate the spirit of initiative to foster the development of entrepreneurial attitudes, while at the same time promoting a new approach to the work environment.

The initiative included the following steps:

  • September 2015: signing of a three-year agreement between the DOT De Molli_Giannini_Protocollo– Do One Thing association of The European House – Ambrosetti and the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research;
  • from February to April 2016, partners of The European House – Ambrosetti presented the project in secondary schools in Lombardy and Apulia, by holding training workshops on the themes of entrepreneurship and developing an entrepreneurial culture  (see the video on Youtube – AmbrosettiChannel);
  • within the deadline date of May 15, 2016, students were able to present their projects;
  • by the end of June, 35 projects had been gathered and the evaluation phase by a joint committee of The European House – Ambrosetti and the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research was initiated to name the two winning projects in Apulia and Lombardy.

The two projects awarded the 3,000 euro prize (donated to each school) were:

  • Grhappy Apple: presented by ISS Alessandro Greppi in Monticello Brianza (Lombardy), which is a food awareness campaign for schools (and elsewhere) that includes organized meetings and informational material, and placing alongside vending machines of snacks in schools, those offering healthy foods.
  • I-Food: presented by’ITE Adriano Olivetti in Lecce (Apulia), is an app whose goal is to support tourism by providing the opportunity to order food and beverages from the comfort of one’s own beach umbrella, thus avoiding long lines at the bar. It covers the Salento resort areas extending from the Ionian to the Adriatic seas.

This first year of collaboration between the DOT – Do One Thing association of The European House – Ambrosetti and the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research will close with the awards ceremony for the two projects in September 2016.
