The second online survey of participants at Cernobbio and the top managers connected with Villa d’Este from around the world provided their sentiment regarding the economic outlook.

More than one manager out of two (54.2%) believes that the performance of his or her company is definitely better than that of the competition, while 41.7% do not see any significant difference.

In terms of turnover in 2020, 37.5% believes it will decrease up to 10% compared with the previous year, while the more optimistic account for one-third of those voting: two out of ten (20%) believe it will grow by up to 10%, while one out of ten (10%) that it will increase by more than 10%.

Compared with the average investment made over the last three years, the relative majority (42.9%) believes that investment in 2020 will increase by up to 10% and 7.1% believes it will increase by more than 20%. Those who foresee a decrease of up to 10% are 19.1% of those voting.

Despite the crisis stemming from COVID-19, how much confidence is there in future economic prospects? Optimists account for 30% of the voters who have a medium/high level of confidence. The more pessimistic are 37.5% of the audience in Cernobbio, with a medium/high level of confidence. Finally, one-third sees the level of confidence in the future as satisfactory.
