Dimensions of hypercholesterolaemia and priorities of action

The Forum represents the final moment of the “Meridiano Cardio” initiative, born with the goals of:

  • spreading greater awareness of the current and prospective impacts of cardiovascular disease (also in terms of economic impact) with focus on ischaemic heart disease
  • affirm the centrality of prevention and control of the first risk factor of ischaemic heart disease at the various levels of intervention (from education in healthy lifestyles to secondary and tertiary prevention measures, which include drug therapy)
  • valorise innovative approaches to the organization and/or management of the treatment of patients with hypercholesterolaemia.

The initiative was realized with the involvement of a Scientific Committee composed of:

  • Raffaele Calabrò: Member of the Social Affairs Committee, Chamber of Deputies; Cardiologist, Monaldi Hospital, Naples
  • Michele Massimo Gulizia: President, National Association of Hospital Cardiologists (ANMCO); Director of the Complex Structure of Cardiology, Garibaldi-Nesima Hospital of Catania
  • Giuseppe Novelli: Rector, University of Rome Tor Vergata; Director of the Medical Genetics Laboratory, University Polyclinic of Tor Vergata
  • Francesco Romeo: President, Italian Society of Cardiology (SIC); Director of the Postgraduate School in Cardiology, University of Rome Tor Vergata
  • Giovanni Battista Zito: President, Regional Associations of Ambulatory Cardiologists (ARCA)
