The ‘Venice Sustainable Fashion Forum’ returns for the 3rd year in Venice to discuss sustainability in the fashion supply chain.
‘Leading Re-Generation’ is the title and main topic of the 2024 edition. The objective is to propose new guidelines to rethink the role of sustainability, understood as a regenerative process for the entire fashion industry with direct implications on human capital and the regulatory framework, innovation and digital transformation, traceability, and transparency of the supply chain, and finally, on the approach to consumption.
The main players in the fashion supply chain, manufacturers of excellence and brands, together with institutions and experts, are called upon to discuss the consequences that the transition has already triggered on competitiveness, production and revenues, share best practices, and converge on solutions and actions for the future.
The event will also be the stage to present ‘Just Fashion Transition 2024’ - the new edition of TEHA Group's permanent Observatory on the sustainable transition of the fashion supply chains, which this year offers a brand new perspective on the topic.
‘Now more than ever, it is crucial to act. And to move in the right direction, the sector needs a clear outlook’ - according to Carlo Cici, Partner & Head of the Sustainability Practice at TEHA Group - ’In this 3rd edition, we have therefore chosen to focus on the evolutionary trajectories of the sector towards 2030, and the effectiveness of the commitments made by companies to pursue them. The comparison of these dimensions has resulted in five strategic recommendations to accelerate decarbonisation which, at current rates, could only be completed in 2038. I believe there will be a lot of food for thought'.
Main topics of the Forum
The first day of the Forum will address how industry competitiveness is strengthened by a sustainable approach, with a focus on the demographic crisis, working conditions, and change in consumption habits. This framework will be integrated with an outlook on the crucial changes that should be implemented through a unified regulatory process at European level. In the afternoon, four parallel sessions will delve into the best practices of the fashion supply chain, with a focus on finance, digitalisation, and circular economy.
The second day will be focused on the analysis of the consumption framework, starting from its historical evolution, following with a focus on the luxury and ultra fashion sector, as well as the challenges of retail. The discussion will then focus on the key role of ESG strategies for responsible supply chain management, and the new AI and digital-based challenges.
As every year, the Forum will put forward proposals and recommendations shared by stakeholders, drawing a path towards a fair and effective transition.
