DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION:
NEW BORDERS, GROWTH AND NATIONAL SECURITY

The Industrial Revolution 4.0: a completely horizontal phenomenon that involves business, government, the community, etc. It modifies the balance of power on an international level and upsets the world’s economies, from emerging ones which can more easily conform to the new parameters, to those that are already well-established and, therefore, must react rapidly to change.

The digital transformation —by which is meant the establishment of processes based on the use of intelligent interconnected hardware that is connected to the Internet— is the necessary response business and society must give, through the adoption of enabling technologies, to the process of change currently underway.

The challenges and problems to be faced, as well as the opportunities and new perspectives for the future that 4IR offers, are just some of the themes that will be examined at the “Digital Transformation: New Borders, Growth and National Security” Forum – organized in collaboration with Elettronica Group, a company dedicated to the production of high-tech equipment for defense – which took place at Foro Italico in Rome, Tuesday, July 18.

Discussion focused on the change currently in-progress which, unlike previous industrial revolutions, is being fed continuously by proposals and requests from society at-large. In addition, the forum illustrated how dual technologies and components designed by the civilian market can also actually be used in the defense sector, and how these two worlds are coming together and gradually becoming more inseparable and necessary to each other.
